Buggy Rides in
Fuerteventura
While on holiday in Fuerteventura not everybody likes to laze around the
pool or lie on the fantastic beaches!
For those that want to
get out and about and see some of the rustic side of Fuerteventura a
Buggy ride or Quad bike tour is a must for you. We do not offer
excursions but can offer advice basically we try before you buy! This page has been put together to give you a taste of what
you can expect. In reality the photographs do not do the views of the
North of Fuerteventura justice!

This particular tour
was taken by the website designer with family and friends, and although
not cheap at 75.00 Euros per couple or 50.00 Euros per buggy if ridden
as a single person, it is a good 3 and a half hour tour and I thought
was fantastic value for money.
You have to book the
day before at the El Campanario Shopping Complex to pay a deposit and
show your driving licence as there is quite a bit of road driving and
these are fully roadworthy vehicles.
There are two tours a
day one in the morning (arrive at 10.00 hrs) and the other is late
afternoon! On the day you have booked please ensure you take your
driving licence as it it Spanish law to carry your driving licence at
all times while driving in Spain and as Fuerteventura is part of
Spanish Law we are no different here!
We opted for the
morning tour and arrived promptly at 10.00 hrs we were then shown to our
buggies. There were ten buggies on our tour, there were 6 in our group
and we opted for 3 buggies. It should be noted that one of our party was
a disabled person with cerebral palsy who requires wheel chair
for mobility. She
found it quite easy to transfer from her wheelchair to the buggy but it
would be a good idea to check the day before you pay as
everybody's disability is different. It was said that the space inside
the buggies was of a good size. It is not possible to take the
wheelchair on the tour so please be aware of this and arrange for
storage.
We
set off at 10.30 hrs and drove around the outskirts of Corralejo
then headed out to La Oliva. We stopped of at La Olive and those that
were able and wanted to had a walk around this typical Fuerteventura
town and had a look in the museum there. The stop was for about 20
minutes.
We then set of for El Cotillo in the North West of the Island. After a
bit more driving on the road we took a left onto a bit of off road
driving! This where the fun starts and although a little dusty (what do
you expect from an Island that has very little rain!) We went up a
mountain to see views that were fantastic looking over the town of
Lajares. Quick stop for a photo shoot. We then continued off road
for about 10km and back to the main road to El Cotillo.
We then nipped off road
at El Roque to the beautiful beaches at El Cottilo for another
photo shoot. We then nipped to a little Italian restaurant in El
Cottillo for a bite to eat. We were parked close enough so we could help
the disabled person in out party to the restaurant. We had a great lunch
and then drove mainly on road back to Corralejo. The tour covered a
total of just under 80 km's and we were back just after 14.00 hrs.
It was a most enjoyable
day and for those that are interested there a few more photographs and a
short video (we don't want to spoil too much!) if you follow this link
